Course description
In this conversion course, graduates of any discipline can gain a professional accounting qualification: no previous experience in accounting studies is required. Students develop competencies in areas such as financial accounting, management accounting, auditing, finance, business law, taxation, and information systems and students develop an understanding of contemporary accounting.
Course structure
Students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of eight subjects each worth 15 credit points. This must include no more than two first-year subjects and a minimum of three, third-year subjects.

Indicative (2010): $9,630 (per 120 credit points)
The University reserves the right to vary fees on an annual basis. Fees will not normally rise above 7% per annum. Should the University decide to increase its fees, that increase will take effect on 1 January of the following year.

Australian Bachelor's degree in any discipline, or approved equivalent qualification. Depending on prior studies, some exemptions/Advanced Standing may be granted.

Career opportunities
Graduates can work in management consulting and general business advisory areas, or in the public accounting area - in auditing, investigative accounting, financial advising or taxation. Typical commencement positions include tax assessor, trainee auditor, chartered accountant, business consultant, assistant auditor and financial advisor.
Professional recognition
Graduates are eligible for associate membership of CPA Australia (the professional body for Certified Practising Accountants in Australia) and admission to the Professional Year of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. The course is also recognised by the international accounting body, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) based in London.
To qualify for membership with CPA, ACCA, or ICAA candidates must satisfactorily complete 15 designated subjects and meet other requirements set by CPA, ACCA, or ICAA. Assessment of subject requirements by CPA/ACCA/ICAA is the sole responsibility of the student and must be completed before enrolment in the course.
