The Doctorate program can be completed in:
* 2 years for the thesis component only for graduates of the Master of Laws or its equivalent; or
* 2.5 years - one semester for the Master of Laws prerequisite units and two years for the thesis.

The Doctor of Juridical Science is a research doctorate with a coursework prerequisite that facilitates a higher degree of research opportunity for those holding a Master of Laws by coursework.
