Course description
This degree combines an accredited professional qualification in law with studies in finance.
The Bachelor of Laws provides an innovative legal education that includes the subjects required for admission to legal practice, as well as a broad range of electives. Many of the electives have a practical skills component such as clinical legal education, communication and advocacy skills and negotiation. The law course also includes core specialised subjects relevant to finance, including Competition Policy and Law, Banking and Finance Law. In addition, students may take an approved unit from the Master of Laws in Global Business Law.
The Bachelor of Finance provides training in corporate finance, international finance, investment and portfolio management and risk management.
Course structure
Students complete 21 law subjects - 16 compulsory subjects and five electives; and a minimum of 19 finance subjects, including Banking and Finance Law. Honours is offered to high-achieving students; Honours in Law is undertaken in the final year, while Honours in Finance requires an additional year of full-time study.
Contact hours
3 contact hours per 15 credit point subject and 4 hours per 20 credit point subject in law. Normally 3 contact hours for each finance subject.

Non-Year 12 applicants must complete and submit a VTAC Pi form for work experience to be considered.
Prerequisites
VCE Units 3 and 4: Study score of at least 35 in English (ESL) or 30 in any other English and at least 20 in Mathematics (any).
