Course description

The Master of Public Health (MPH) is an internationally recognised degree which enables graduates to work all over the world in a wide variety of public health settings. La Trobe University offers a collaboratively delivered Master's program through the Victorian Consortium for Public Health (VCPH) of four major universities - Deakin University (CRICOS Provider 00113B), Monash University (CRICOS Provider 00008C), the University of Melbourne (CRICOS Provider 00116K) and La Trobe University. While teaching a common Part I, the universities offer their own specialised Part II, each reflecting the research and experience of their own staff.

Course structure

Part I is taught by all four universities and comprises eight units of which four are compulsory and others are elective.

In Part II, (consisting of eight units) participants stream into one of the public health specialisations of the university in which they are enrolled.

Part II may be completed either by a research pathway, which emphasises the development of skills in public health research, or by action learning, in which students develop the skills needed for working on a specific project in multidisciplinary streams. Both modes are supported by coursework subjects.
