Course description
This is a 120 credit point award consisting of either: three, 20 credit point subjects: Advanced Midwifery Practice, Childbirth and Well being, and a research subject. Plus, students carry out a 60 credit point thesis of approximately 15 000 words, or three, 20 credit point subjects from the Master of Midwery program and one elective subject from the list of current subjects offered in the Master of Nursing, and a 40 credit point clinical project.

The University reserves the right to vary fees on an annual basis. Fees will not normally rise above 7% per annum. Should the University decide to increase its fees, that increase will take effect on 1 January of the following year.

English language requirements
IELTS (Academic) - minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL Computer-Based Test - A minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or
TOEFL Paper-based Test - A minimum score of 575 with a score of 5 or more in the test of Written English; or
TOEFL Internet-based Test - A minimum score of 88 with no individual score less than 22; or
Completion of the English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at PG (postgraduate) level available from the La Trobe University Language Centre; or
Approved equivalent.
Academic entry requirements
Applicants must be licensed to practice as a registered general nurse in their own country; have completed a postgraduate diploma of Midwifery Science, or approved international equivalent, with a B Grade average or above; have at least one year's recent clinical practice in midwifery; and hold an Australian Bachelor of Nursing degree, or approved international equivalent.
Special requirements
This course has a clinical component. International students are required to obtain temporary registration with the Nurses Board Victoria to engage in the required clinical or field experience activities. This does not allow employment as a registered nurse or midwife in Victoria.
