Course description
This research degree provides an alternative to the traditional PhD for experienced practitioners in the field of counselling and psychotherapy. The core coursework components of the doctorate assist students to further develop their expertise as senior practitioners and supervisors, as well as their understanding of the relationship between their theoretical orientation and their own life experiences.
Areas of research include: clinical speech pathology, clinical vision sciences, family therapy, occupational therapy and prosthetics and orthotics.

The University reserves the right to vary fees on an annual basis. Fees will not normally rise above 7% per annum. Should the University decide to increase its fees, that increase will take effect on 1 January of the following year.
English language requirements
IELTS (Academic) - minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL Computer-Based Test - A minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or
TOEFL Paper-based Test - A minimum score of 575 with a score of 5 or more in the test of Written English; or
TOEFL Internet-based Test - A minimum score of 88 with no individual score less than 22; or
Completion of the English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at PG (postgraduate) level available from the La Trobe University Language Centre; or
Approved equivalent.
Academic entry requirements
Applicants must have completed an Australian Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with Honours at H1 or H2A level, or approved international equivalent, plus at least three years of relevant professional experience. Applicants are also required to provide evidence of research expertise.
