Course description

This course is structured to meet the needs of teachers and other professionals who want to pursue education studies in their field of interest. It is a pathway to further studies in education rather than a teaching qualification, providing a grounding in pedagogical and cultural aspects of education in Australia. However, it also provides sound foundation studies in education for those wanting to undertake the Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary), which qualifies graduates to teach in schools. Depending on prior qualifications, the degree also serves as a means of entry to Masters' courses in education.

Course structure

Content comprises 360 credit points; however, applicants are normally granted entry with Advanced Standing in a reduced program. Applicants with a suitable TAFE Diploma or Advanced Diploma are eligible for entry with Advanced Standing to a 240-credit-point or 180-credit-point program respectively. International applicants with a qualification recognised as equivalent to two years' university study in Australia are eligible for entry with Advanced Standing into a 120-credit-point program. All students must complete a minimum of 120 credit points in education subjects.

Contact hours

9 to 12 hours per week or equivalent intensive block mode of study, depending on subject selection.
