Course description
This double degree allows students to complement the study of Asian languages and cultures with knowledge and skills necessary for careers in a wide range of businesses. It combines a basic platform of knowledge spanning accounting, economics, management, information systems, law and business statistics with a wide range of specialist majors. The Asian Studies component of the program will include the study of at least one of the Asian languages.
A minimum of 270 credit points must be accumulated from subjects offered in the School of Business. This includes completing the compulsory business units, including one business major. A minimum of 255 credit points must be accumulated in an Asian language and Asian studies. This includes a minimum of 165 credit points in one of the following Asian languages:
- Chinese
- Japanese
- Indonesian/Malay

The University reserves the right to vary fees on an annual basis. Fees will not normally rise above 7% per annum. Should the University decide to increase its fees, that increase will take effect on 1 January of the following year.
English language requirements
Successful completion of English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at undergraduate (EFS5 (60%) UG) level conducted by La Trobe University Language Centre; or
IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL Paper-based Test: a minimum score of 550 with a score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English; or
TOEFL Computer-based Test: a minimum score of 213 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or
TOEFL Internet-based Test: a minimum score of 80 with no individual score less than 20; or
Satisfactory completion of an English language subject at Year 12 or equivalent level. This must have been completed in the last two years and at an academic level acceptable to the University; or
Approved equivalent.

Graduates from the Bachelor of Business are prepared for careers in the management of large, medium and small businesses. There are career opportunities in the government and private sectors, both domestically and internationally. Areas of potential employment include small business management, marketing, management, human resource management and international business.
Graduates from the Bachelor of Asian Studies find work in the diplomatic service, international trade and commerce, the manufacturing industry, and in educational and community-aid projects. Graduates are also sought in business, health, education and social services.
Professional recognition
Graduates are eligible to join the Australian Marketing Institute or the Marketing Research Society of Australia as associate members.
