Course description
This course offers a concentrated program for students who wish to
broaden their knowledge of Asian languages and cultures and to seek
employment that requires professional expertise in Asian fields of endeavour.
The course focuses on a core language: Chinese or Japanese. The course has been especially designed to allow students who are commencing study of an Asian language to achieve a relatively high language proficiency within a three-year degree.
Course structure
In first year, students complete three compulsory core units, an Asian language, an Asian studies elective and two other electives offered by the University. In subsequent years, students continue with their chosen language and other Asian-related units or areas of study, such as: archaeology, cinema studies, English, religious studies or sociology.

Tuition fee (AUD)

The University reserves the right to vary fees on an annual basis. Fees will not normally rise above 7% per annum. Should the University decide to increase its fees, that increase will take effect on 1 January of the following year.
English language requirements
Successful completion of English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at undergraduate (EFS5 (60%) UG) level conducted by La Trobe University Language Centre; or
IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL Paper-based Test: a minimum score of 550 with a score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English; or
TOEFL Computer-based Test: a minimum score of 213 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or
TOEFL Internet-based Test: a minimum score of 80 with no individual score less than 20; or
Satisfactory completion of an English language subject at Year 12 or equivalent level. This must have been completed in the last two years and at an academic level acceptable to the University; or
Approved equivalent.
