Participation

 

Ways of Participating
  • Review (lead) author: lead a team of researchers to produce a Cochrane review. Propose your own review idea or develop a topic based on these suggestions.
  • Co-author: work with a lead author and other co-authors to produce a Cochrane review.
  • Referee/Peer Reviewer: Cochrane reviews are checked before publication by at least three people external to the editors of the Review Group. Peer reviewers have content, methodological or consumer expertise.
  • Editor: Our editors support review authors to ensure the quality of reviews.
  • Consumer: Some of our members represent *consumers' viewpoints in deciding the scope and priority of reviews. Consumers can be review authors, advisors to authors, or peer reviewers; or have input in other ways.
    * "Consumers" means people who use or may use health care services, as well as their families, their carers, and advocates.
  • Mailing list: Join our mailing list to receive our regular newsletter.
  • Suggest a review topic: Complete the online form to tell us your idea for a review topic.

Benefits of Participating
  • Training: Review authors can attend free training.
  • Access to The Cochrane Library: Active lead authors receive free access to The Cochrane Library.
  • Academic Recognition: Cochrane systematic reviews are highly esteemed in the medical and scientific arena. From 2008 The Cochrane Library will have an impact factor. Many leading journals welcome the submission of Cochrane reviews. 
  • Funding: We can support applications for funding to attend Cochrane Colloquia, undergo relevant training or produce Cochrane reviews.
  • Information and networking: Read the latest review findings in our newsletter. We can link you with other people active in your field. (See also the Health Knowledge Network).
