Cochrane Consumers and Communication Review Group

About the Group

The Cochrane Consumers and Communication Review Group is part of the Cochrane Collaboration, an international, non-profit organisation that aims to help people make well-informed decisions about health care. This is primarily done by the preparation, maintenance and promotion of systematic reviews of the effects of health care interventions.

This work is done by fifty-two Review Groups. The members of these groups - researchers, healthcare professionals, people using the health services (consumers), and others - share an interest in producing reliable, up-to-date evidence about the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of particular health problems. Each of these Review Groups specialises in particular areas of healthcare intervention.

Our scope

The Consumers and Communication Review Group coordinates the production of systematic reviews of interventions which affect consumers' interactions with health care professionals, services and researchers. Our reviews fall into six broad categories:

  • Interventions directed to the consumer (Group 1)
  • Interventions from the consumer (Group 2)
  • Interventions for communication exchange between providers and consumers (Group 3)
  • Interventions for communication between consumers (Group 4)
  • Interventions for communication to the healthcare provider from another source (Group 5)
  • Service delivery interventions (Group 6)

We have almost 600 members in 36 countries around the world. Our team of specialist staff is located at La Trobe University and is supported by an international editorial team.

We thank our funding bodies for their support:

  • Department of Human Services, Victoria,
  • Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
