China Health ProgramLa Trobe UniversityLa Trobe University was established and incorporated through an Act of the Victorian Parliament in December 1964. The University was officially opened in March 1967 and began teaching during the first term of that year. It was the third university established in Victoria, having since grown to accommodate more than 22,000 students. Visit the La Trobe University website at www.latrobe.edu.au The main campus at Bundoora spans 196 hectares, is located only 16 kilometres from the city of Melbourne and is easily accessed by public transport. It is an attractive campus, featuring native garden settings and a vast range of native flora and fauna, particularly native birds. La Trobe has a large Faculty of Health Sciences with teaching and research in a range of health science disciplines (not including undergraduate medical training). The School of Public Health, one of the larger schools within the Faculty, has particular strengths in health promotion, health policy, health information and health services management. It is an important centre for Health Services Management training and research and for health policy training and research in Australia. (The La Trobe programs are recognised by the Australian College of Health Service Executives (ACHSE) for purposes of vocational recognition.) La Trobe has an active program of teaching, research and cooperation in China, involving a number of different schools and faculties. The School of Public Health at La Trobe University is one of a small number of educational institutions in Australia offering accredited health management training. The Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management and the Masters of Health Administration are recognised by the leading professional organisation of health managers in Australia, the Australian College of Health Service Executives.
