There are several steps to be taken in determining eligibility, obtaining approval and enrolling.
Statement of eligibility and invitation to apply for enrolmentTo be eligible to enrol, applicants must have significant management experience of at least 3 years and have already completed basic training in health services management. The basic standard for this latter requirement is the La Trobe Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management, or its equivalent as recognised by La Trobe University. Prospective students must first submit a completed enclosed application, either directly to the International Office of participating Chinese universities or by post to: La Trobe China Health Program Important Details:
The purpose of the application form is to register details of the applicant's background, experience and training to determine their eligibility to enrol. Applicants who have completed basic health services management training to the required level through other programs should submit details of their background, experience and training. Applicants who are eligible to enrol will be provided with a formal Letter of Offer issued by La Trobe University and a Pre-departure Package. The Pre-Departure package, includes other important documentation that you need as part of procuring an Australian visa and formally accepting your place for the Masters degree.
VISA InformationThere are two types of visa's that are available, a Student Visa and a Professional Development Visa. To work out which visa you should apply for, please read the questions below.

Work unit approvalIn order to apply for an Australian visa applicants will need a formal statement from their work unit (or relevant authority) indicating: (1) that the applicant will be granted leave of absence to attend the course; (2) that their position will be kept for them on their return. Where applicants are not financially supported through their work units they will need to demonstrate adequate financial resources to the Australian visa authorities to procure a Student Visa (see below).
Professional Development VISA (PDV)Once applicants have (1) their eligibility determined (2) work unit approval (3)have identified funding and (4) have received a formal offer letter for the Masters degree by La Trobe University, they may lodge a formal application for a PDV. This should be submitted to the China Health Program. Please ensure that you supply all original documentation that is required. Your application will not be processed until these documents are received. The PDV application will be forwarded to the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) for processing. Once La Trobe University receive information back from DIMIA regarding your application, they will issue you with further information, including a form for your health examination. Student VISAOnce applicants have their eligibility determined and work unit approval and have identified funding they may lodge a formal application for an Australian Visa to the Australian Embassy. To apply for an Australian visa applicants will need: (1) Chinese passport; (2) La Trobe Letter of Offer; (3) statement of work unit approval including leave of absence, job security and funding support (where this is the case), (4) A signed copy of your application form. Where applicants are not financially supported through their work units they will need to demonstrate adequate financial resources to the Australian visa authorities. If the Embassy is happy with your application, they will issue you with a Preliminary Visa Approval (PVA). Once you receive the PVA you will be required to send this to La Trobe University (please keep a copy of this document for your records) along with your fees and acceptance form (see below). Once La Trobe University has received both the PVA, 50% deposit of the tuition fees and your acceptance form, they will issue a receipt, and Electronic Confirmation Of Enrolment form (eCOE). To complete your application for an Australian visa applicants will need: (1) eCOE issued by La Trobe University; (2) La Trobe receipt (of deposit). The staff of the participating Chinese universities will assist applicants to lodge their visa applications.
Confirming your acceptanceYou must fill in the acceptance forms located in the Pre-departure Package. This will ensure your place within the Master Program. You are also required to pay a 50% deposit of the tuition fees and other required fees outlined in your letter of offer. If these are not received, your place will not be guaranteed.
