阅读中文版

The Graduate Certificate in Health Services Management builds the management capacity of health service managers, with new theory, skills and understandings about the challenges faced by managers.

The program is based on research into the needs of Chinese health service managers and internationally recognised principles of management education. It has been developed in close consultation between La Trobe and participating Chinese universities.

Admission

This course is designed for managers working in hospitals, public health units and government health bureaux at the municipal, provincial, county and district levels.

Students are generally required to have completed a bachelor degree and to have significant experience in health service management.

Course structure

The program is taught through two blocks of intensive teaching, over one year totalling 50 full days. Between the blocks the students return to their work and undertake further study (writing essays and undertaking and reporting on project work) in the practical environment of their organisation.

The course is structured around five subject areas:

  • organisation and management theory
  • managing people
  • managing information
  • managing resources
  • policy participation

The teaching program is designed to introduce and develop new knowledge and skills in ways which correspond to the practical challenges that managers face.
