China Health Program

The La Trobe China Health Program, a program within the School of Public Health, aims to contribute to the development of health care in China through teaching, research and project cooperation.

The La Trobe China Health Program (CHP) works in association with Chinese universities and other organisations in China to build academic capacity in health management education, health services research and health policy research and teaching.

 

Teaching

CHP contributes to the training of health service managers through short courses, the Graduate Certificate in Health Services Management, the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management and the Master of Health Administration.  The program contributes to training health service and health policy researchers through the Doctoral research program. Research

CHP is engaging with the challenges of health development in China through a number of active research programs in the areas of community health services, hospital information systems, national health information policy and public hospital reform.

 

Development

CHP is involved in a number of cooperative development projects in the areas of health promotion, regional planning and rural health development.

 

Current News

The CHP Master of Health Administration program (offshore in Harbin) was commended by the Australian University Quality Agency as a potential "Jewel in the Crown" of La Trobe's international activities (see AUQA report published on January 2010). It has been chosen for inclusion in the AUQA Good Practice Database.

CHP successfully organised a Sino-Australia Forum on Health System Reform in Beijing on 8-9th May 2010, with support from the Australia-China Council, which is part of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia. Please see our Focus page for further information
