Weaknesses:
Compared to the Disney version, this is a little longer. Younger children may get side tracked. There are also features of this story that are quite bleak and disturbing, perhaps not even suitable for children. We are referring to the Duchess’ house where it is obvious that the pig baby is abused. This is not the best ideas to be giving to children. Another weakness is that there are fewer illustrations in this text. Readers, young or old, like to look at pictures and this version supplies fewer than the Disney version.
