Alice in Wonderland
Strengths:
This
is one of the best illustrated Alice
in Wonderland books we have come across. Anthony Browne has done an excellent
job with turning this exciting text into even more exciting illustrations. Not
only does it depict obvious Browne traits (the gorilla appears several times
through out the book), but it has a way of showing the audience images that
they could not think up in their wildest dreams. He gives Alice
expression, something that few Alice
illustrators do, which allows the reader to physically see how Alice
is feeling. Another great strength about this book is that it is set up as a
chapter book. This makes it very easy to read. This is also the original
version which allows older readers to connect with their childhood, if they
grew up with the text, and for younger readers to learn and enjoy the original.
