Alice in Wonderland

This Alice in Wonderland version follows the same format as the other Disney version. It begins with an explanation of where Wonderland is. “It is a place in your dreams,” it says, “the strange and wondrous place where nothing is as it seems.” (Pg 3, 1951)

At first, Alice sees the white rabbit running across a meadow with a pocket watch. Alice’s curiosity gets the better of her and she decides to follow him, straight into a hollow tree. But as soon as she stepped in, she slipped and fell down a hole that seemed to fall for ages. She calmly floated down the hole, whilst looking around her at the pictures and shelves that covered the walls.

She finally reached the bottom of the hole and noticed that the rabbit was disappearing through a door. But Alice was too big to fit through it! So she was left by herself. Along her journey, she met many creatures of Wonderland, but she couldn’t find the white rabbit!

After walking a long while in the forest, Alice came across a little pink and white house. To her surprise, the rabbit ran from out of its front door! The rabbit mistakenly identifies Alice as Mary Ann, his cleaner and orders her to go into his house and finds his gloves. But by the time she gets back, he is already rushing off through the forest.

Alice again tried to follow the white rabbit, running into people such as Tweedledee and Tweedledum, as well as the March Hare and the Mad Hatter, along with the Cheshire Cat and the Jabberwok.

After meeting the Cheshire Cat, he showed her a short cut, which led to the kingdom of Hearts garden. Almost as soon as Alice arrived, a procession began and the queen came forth. And the leader of the procession was none other than the white rabbit!!

When the queen saw Alice, she asked her if she played croquet. Alice declined, resulting in the queen ordering Alice’s beheading. Getting tired of Wonderland, Alice stated “Pooh! ... I’m not frightened of you. You’re nothing but a pack of cards.” (Pg 23, 1951)

Alice then woke up; realizing that she’d had enough of Wonderland and its silly ways.
