Alice in Wonderland

The story begins with a little girl, roughly around the age of 7, sitting and listening to her older sister reading. The little girl, named Alice, becomes quite frustrated and bored as there are no pictures in the book for her to look at. Her mind begins to wander and soon, she sees a white rabbit, in quite a rush, calling “I’m late for a very important date!” Alice’s curiosity gets the better of her and she decides to follow the rabbit into the hole that he had just disappeared into.

As she crawls into the hole, Alice falls and continues to do so for quite some time. The hole she falls down is covered with pictures and lamps. Once she reaches the bottom, she follows the rabbit and finds a small door. But she’s too big to fit through it. Alice then finds some potion to make her smaller and after she has made the transformation, she realises the door is locked and the key is too high for her to reach. Having to eat a small cake to make her bigger, she grows too big and begins to cry. To try and fix the situation, she drinks more potion to make her smaller, which makes her tiny, and she ends up swimming through the key hole in her own tears!

Once landing on shore, Alice runs into two men named Tweedledee and Tweedledum. They tell her stories of The Walrus and the Carpenter. When Tweedledee and Tweedledum end up getting into a fight, Alice runs away and eventually finds herself at the white rabbit’s house.

The white rabbit orders Alice to fetch his gloves from inside the house. She does what she is told, but whilst doing so, she helps herself to a small cookie and once again grows to giant size. The rabbit calls for help and the Dodo comes to his rescue, hatching a plan to smoke Alice out of the house. Upon hearing this, Alice hurriedly eats a carrot from rabbit’s garden and shrinks to a size so small, that the grass blades looked as though they were a forest!

Walking through the grass forest, Alice meets a blue caterpillar who is smoking a pipe! The caterpillar advises Alice that to grow bigger, she must eat one side of the mushroom that he is sitting on, and the other side will make her smaller. Taking a risk, she takes a bite and to her surprise, she grows bigger. But she does so, so fast she ends up with her head above the trees and a nest upon her head. Slowly nibbling on the other piece of mushroom, she finally gets to her normal size.

Walking through the forest, Alice soon runs into the Cheshire Cat who tells her that if she’s looking for the white rabbit, she should ask the Mad Hatter or the March Hare, before slowly disappearing into thin air. She walks a little further, and finds a house. In the garden the March Hare and the Mad Hatter were having a tea party to celebrate their Unbirthdays. She joins them for a short time, but becomes frustrated at their stupidity and leaves.

Again, Alice finds herself walking through the forest, feeling lost and alone, until she runs into the Cheshire Cat, who points her in the direction of a short cut to home. This, however, ends up leading her to a beautiful garden in the Hearts castle grounds. Once on the grounds, she almost immediately meets the queen who asks her to joins their croquet game. Alice accepts the offer and they begin to play.

Before the game is through, the Cheshire Cat appears and connects the queen’s dress to her flamingo croquet club. The queen falls and blames the whole incident on Alice, declaring that she be beheaded. After a short discussion with the king, the queen agrees to let Alice go on trial first.

As the trial was taking place, Alice remembered the leftover mushrooms in her pocket. Quickly eating some, she grew again to a giant size, and told the court exactly what she thought of the entire Wonderland. Whilst this was happening, however, she began to shrink. And as soon as she reached her normal size, the queen ordered the guards to catch Alice. Alice ran as fast as she could but found herself in a maze. She suddenly felt really tired and wanted to give up. Soon, everything became distant noises. The next thing she knew was she was being woken by her sister…It was all a dream!
