Robin Hood was a legendary English hero of the common people in Nottingham.  Due to the Sheriff of Nottingham and Prince John’s tyrannical rule and the exploitation of the common people through taxes, Robin Hood became an outlaw.  He formed a band called the Merry Men in Sherwood Forest who were famous for stealing from the rich to give to the poor.

Robin Hood is an interesting story to me as it shows a man who stands up for what he believes in, no matter what the cost is.  Robin Hood became a hero for the common man.  He helped those under the oppression of the Sheriff of Nottingham.  It is interesting to me how the stories endured for such long periods of time by word of mouth, until they were recorded in writing.   

The focus of this website is to show how the versions of how Robin Hood has been changed over the years.  My aim is to focus on how the different stories affect each character.  The tales over the years have shown different versions on how certain events took place.  It is now impossible to say which is the correct version of the story.
