Synopsis:

Sleeping Beauty begins with a King and Queen wishing for a child. After a while the Queen falls pregnant and has a baby girl. To celebrate the birth of the child, the King and Queen have a party and everyone in the kingdom is invited, except an evil fairy. This fairy casts a spell on the princess that foretells when the princess turns 16, she will prick her finger on a spindle and die. After she has cast this spell on the princess, one of the good fairies also casts a spell on her that foretells when this happens the princess will not die but she will only sleep for a 100 years until a prince finds her, kisses her and wakes her up. This all happens when she turns 16. Traditionally after the prince finds her they fall in love, get married and live happily ever after. Depending on what version you read the story can end here or have a second part.

My main focus for this assignment is looking at the 3 versions of Sleeping Beauty by Charles Perrault, the Grimm Brothers and Walt Disney and comparing them as they differ in the way the stories are told.
