Mulga Bill's Bicycle

This picture book adaptation of Mulga Bill's Bicycle was illustrated by Kilmeny and Deborah Niland. The verse is in its original format, yet is spread across 26 large pages throughout the book.

Many techniques have been used to illustrate the pictures. They comprise of large double page spreads with detailed background, to smaller images with little or no background/foreground.

There is generally a line of the verse to every page. Kilmeny and Deborah Niland have illustrated the major parts of the verse and show fantastic expression on the face of Mulga Bill and the fast movement of his runaway bicycle.

This page is an example of a large illustration and the 'bleeding' technique used to bring the reader into the story more. This page shows Mulga Bill falling into the water, the meaning is implied through this illustration alone as no text accompany the image.
