KROC AWARD
Northern Territory popular choice award

The KROC Award (Kids Reading Oz Choice) is the Northern Territory's popular choice award. The KROC grew out of the unpronounceable acronym NTYRBA (Northern Territory Young Readers' Book Award) which ran from 1983 to 1986. In 1990 it was redesigned as the KROC and operates through young readers' votes submitted to the Northern Territory Library Promotion Council. The only criteria for books is that they must be Australian.
It was tempting to redefine it again as the Paul Jennings Perpetual Trophy until Andy Griffiths broke the strangle-hold in 2001!.
