ENA NOËL
AWARD
the Australian
IBBY Encouragement Award for children's literature
The Ena Noël Award - the Australian IBBY Encouragement Award for Children's Literature - is presented to a young, developing Australian writer or illustrator. It is specified as for one book only, which must have been published in the two years before the award is judged, though you can see from the list that Steven Woolman was awarded a special one for his body of work!
The award is presented at the biennial congress of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) which is the local arm of IBBY (The International Board for Books for Young people). It is in honour of Ena Noël, foundation president of Australian IBBY from 1966 to 1991, and staunch supporter of, and lobbyist for, children's literature.
