JOHN NICHOLSON

John is a graphic artist and former architect who creates magnificent information books, with a perfect balance of visual and textual detail.  In a relatively short time he has already won the Eve Pownall Award (CBC award for Information books) 4 times and has had another 2 titles shortlisted.
His work is underpinned by a deep feeling for the natural and cultural heritage of Australia, and while his precise drawings are almost photographic in their precision, they have an air of wonder in their delicacy.

  • His biography pages from  Allen & Unwin and Scholastic
  • Austlit has a short biography and lists of John's works and prizes, and you can search further in the database for reviews and analysis

For a broader list, have a browse through the Australian Authors and Illustrators page from the NSW branch of the Australian School Library Association
