LM MONTGOMERY
1874 - 1942

Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne series plays the same role in Canadian literature as Wilder's Little House and Alcott's Little Women books in the USA and Mary Grant Bruce's Billabong series and Ethel Turner's Seven Little Australians in Australia.  In her depiction of her feisty heroine growing up and facing life in the "man's world" of the late 19th century, she empowered generations of girl readers to feel that they could too.

And lastly, why not do a bit of searching. The ubiquitous Google or Alta Vista build good results from your search. Try "LM Montgomery" as a name, as well as descriptors such as children's literature, Anne and Avonlea in various combinations.
