ROLAND HARVEY
b. 1945

Roland Harvey's unique illustrating style lends itself wonderfully to visual narrative as a host of intricate details tumble all over the page, seemingly individual and disconnected, but always with a larger picture in view.  From the distances of  My Place in Space, through the historical stories of The First Fleet and Burke and Wills, the medical details of Sick as ..., to the whimsy of  Islands in my Garden, a reader is drawn into scouring the backgrounds and foregrounds for the tiniest of figures and stories.
Roland was a key speaker at the 2001 La Trobe University Bendigo Children's Literature Conference.
