PHILLIP GWYNNE
b. 1958

In his novels Deadly, Unna? and Nukkin Ya, Phillip Gwynne has given a voice to worlds either unknown or studiously ignored by mainstream Australian society - rural youth, both Aboriginal and European.  The controversy surrounding the filming of the much-awarded Deadly, Unna? has only highlighted the power of Gwynne's semi-autobiographical writing in these novels and the intensity of the story and its issues.
Phillip was a key speaker at the 2001 La Trobe University Bendigo Children's Literature Conference.
