Undergraduate Courses and Degrees
By definition, a course is a degree (such as Bachelor of Medicinal Chemistry), and a subject is a unit of study within a course, usually taken over a single semester.
The Department of Chemistry contributes to several courses (degrees) in aspects relating to chemistry. Undergraduate courses are available in specialist areas (Medicinal Chemistry, Nanotechnology) as well as more generalist fields (Bachelor of Science). You can find more information regarding specific Chemistry subjects and courses below.
Undergraduate Courses (Degrees)
- Bachelor of Science
- Bachelor of Medicinal Chemistry
- Bachelor of Nanotechnology / Science
- Bachelor of Chemical Science (Not taking new enrolments from 2010 onwards).
Current students enrolled in the Bachelor of Chemical Science degree can get information on their chemistry subjects/course from the Bachelor of Science page.
These degrees serve as a prelude to Postgraduate Research/Study, further study in allied subjects, industrial appointments or a career in teaching. Students intending to proceed to the Honours Degree in Chemistry are selected on the basis of their performance in the final year of the pass degree course.
For more information regarding the range of Degree Choices within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering is available, including current entry requirements.
