Chemistry Student Services

There are a wide range of support services for students at the University, Faculty and School level. There are additional services offered by the Department of Chemistry for those studying chemistry.

Course and Career Advice

All students are encouraged to seek course/career advice from course/subject coordinators. The subjects you choose for second and third year will significantly impact upon your future study and employment options. It is a good idea to seek course advice in second semester of each year of study for subjects to be taken in the following year.

For general course advice, contact the relevant course coordinator or Faculty Office. For course or subject specific advice, you should seek specific advice from the course or subject coordinator. Academic staff can offer advice on course and subject selection as well as chemistry career advice. Students should consider undertaking a major in chemistry, as particularly a fourth year honours program.

Research facilities

The Department has a wide range of modern research instruments and facilities for staff and student use.

LUCK - Chemistry Postgraduate Society

La Trobe University Chemistry Krew (LUCK) is a group for postgraduate and honours students.

The Chemistry Computer Lab provides computer resources for undergraduate students. There are currently 20 new iMac computers (dual OS - Mac and Windows) for use in computer-aided learning (CAL) as well as for student use. The computer lab is located on the ground floor of Physical Sciences 3. It is open 9am to 5pm each day of semester.
