Recent Projects

  1. "Microspheres for Medical Diagnostics. An Investigation of the Whispering Gallery Mode Sensing Platform". Jessica Mackinnon, Honours 2005, Sensor Development and Medicinal Analytical Chemistry. Jessica's project investigated the development of a biosensor for bacterial and viral agents using the biological analytes, Chlamydia Trachomatis and the Human Papilloma Virus.
  2. "Herbicide Extraction using Polymer Inclusion Membranes for Environmental Applications". Michelle Roberts, Honours 2005, Environmental Analytical Chemistry. Michelle's project investigated the use of membrane technology for the extraction of herbicides such as 2,4 dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) from environmental waters.
  3. "Development and Application of Polymer Microspheres for the Extraction of Arsenic". David Hill, Honours 2004, Environmental Analytical Chemistry. David developed a modified method for producing polymer microspheres incorporating a novel ligand for the extraction of arsenic from environmental water samples.
  4. "Development of Polymer Microspheres for Metal Extraction Applications". Sarah Heenan, Honours 2003, Industrial Analytical Chemistry. Sarah developed a simple and inexpensive method for producing polymer microspheres that were applied to the extraction of gold from aqueous solutions.
