Facilities
The School of Molecular Sciences houses state-of-the-art instrumentation to meet all current research needs. Researchers have access to fully equipped laboratories for research in the areas of biochemistry, chemistry, genetics and pharmacy.
The Department of Chemistry is well equipped with instrumentation to support its research - much of our instrumentation is focused on molecular detection and characterisation. As a member of the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science (LIMS), students have access to world-class research and learning facilities. The Department is also active in the research program of the Research Centre for Materials and Surface Science, which involves collaboration with the Department of Physics.
High-end equipment is available including:
- NMR spectroscopy
- Crystallography
- Mass spectrometry
- Spectrophotometry
- High performance computing
- Electrochemistry
- Chromatography
- Synthesis
- Shimadzu instrument laboratory.
