Amino acids in space
This project is broadly focused on modelling biologically important molecules. Our group has significant experience in modelling amino acids in the gas-phase. This project extends previous work to investigate the N-methyl amino acids, for which there is limited experimental data. Of particular interest is the proton affinity – both the site of protonation and the energy of protonation. This is of biological importance, since the N-methyl amino acids have useful therapeutic properties.
