Pseudo-prolines
(with Dr. Craige Trenerry, DPI and Dr David Wilson)We have made N-methyl amino acids using 5-oxazolidinones. The amino acids Thr, Ser and Cys can make oxazolidines instead of the expected compound. We propose to exploit this new 5-membered ring to introduce a turn into synthetic peptides to improve subsequent cyclisation reactions. The project involves some early methods development and then peptide synthesis (Petriellins B, C and D).
