Teaching areas

  • Dr Andrew Kilpatrick teaches in the area of structural design including the behaviour and design of structural steel, structural timber, concrete masonry, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, conceptual design and structural systems.

Supervision

  • He has supervised the Investigation projects of both Honours and Pass Degree students, some of which have resulted in papers presented at international conferences.

Professional involvement

  • Past consulting projects include the design of industrial and agricultural sheds, elevated silo analysis, design of supports for a suspended swimming pool and forensic engineering.
  • He has been a member of Standards Australia Committee BD-002 and Sub-committee BD-002/5 since 2003.

Research interests

  • Dr Kilpatrick's research interests include the behaviour of reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete members, steel-concrete composite members and the use of Fibre Reinforced Polymer reinforcing in structural concrete.
