Scholarship details

Aims

The Rural City of Wangaratta is a leading provincial city with a population of 27,000 and growing. Situated in beautiful north east Victoria, the region provides outstanding lifestyle, recreational, educational and health facilities and is recognised for its tourism, gourmet foods and fine wines. Council is involved in a broad range of activities to develop and support the local community. Council's $50 million budget is applied to economic development, environmental management and the development and maintenance of a broad range of physical infrastructure.

A significant component of Council's business involves specialist civil and design engineering activities in planning, design, maintenance and construction. One of the great benefits of working for a regional Council is the diversity of engineering experiences and opportunities. The Wangaratta Rural City Council employs approximately 350 staff and offers a friendly, supportive environment that encourages flexible work practices and career development.

The Wangaratta Rural City Council/La Trobe University Civil Engineering Scholarship Program has been established to provide support for the completion of a tertiary qualification of future professional civil engineering staff. It is available to students undertaking the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) course, or one of the Engineering double degree courses, at the Bendigo campus of La Trobe University.
