Recognising achievement in regional Civil Engineering
14 June 2011
On Wednesday 15 June La Trobe University Bendigo will recognise the sponsors for the civil engineering program. The University and the sponsors received a national award from the Business/Higher Education Round Table (B-HERT), in the category of Best Higher Education & Training Collaboration for 2010.
The student scholarship winners for 2011 will also be presented with their Certificates of Achievements during the event. The scholarships being awarded are the Ambassadors Scholarships, the Dean’s Scholarship and industry scholarships from Chris Smith and Associates, City of Greater Bendigo, CPG Australia, Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water, Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal/Pratt Water and North-Vic Constructions.
‘Scholarships play an important role in attracting the brightest and the best students to the University. The range and number of scholarships the Faculty can offer provides opportunities and vital support to our students,’ says Professor Brian McGaw, Dean, Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering.
Scholarships are sponsored by the University in conjunction with government or industry organisations. They are valued at $130,000 in total and are for continuing domestic undergraduate La Trobe University Civil Engineering students in Bendigo. The scholarships provide a range of benefits which include financial support, paid vacation work, access to career mentoring advice from practising engineers and possible, or in some cases guaranteed, post-graduation employment.
