Engineers' seminar to address problems of low ductile steels — two eminent engineers will address some challenges with regard to concrete design and construction at a seminar in Bendigo this evening.

Consulting engineer, Dr Andrew Kilpatrick and Professor Stephen Foster who works in the Centre for Infrastructure Engineering and Safety, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales, will discuss grey areas and challenges in approaches to concrete design and use.

This seminar will also examine the proposed revisions to the Australian Standard, AS3600 - Concrete Structures and address the controversial problem of the appropriate use of low ductile steels.

The event will take place at 4.00 pm - 6.30 pm on Tuesday, 6 May 2006 (refreshments at 4.00 pm, seminar 5.00 pm - 6.30 pm) at Lecture Room 3.03 Applied Science 1 building La Trobe University, Bendigo.
