Matthew Dalton overseeing geotechnical investigations

Matthew Dalton - Construction Engineer, VicRoads

“Since starting at VicRoads (Calder Corridor Project Office) as a Construction Engineer I have been involved in many different aspects of the job. There is, of course, the paper work to do but at Calder Project I have been ushered out into the field as often as possible in order to get a good look at what contractors are up against.

“More recently I have been administering the Geotechnical Investigation for the proposed Harcourt Section of Calder Freeway stretching from Golden Point Rd Faraday North to the Southern end of the newly completed Ravenswood Section.

“I know I learnt a lot at La Trobe, but the learning process doesn't look like slowing down anytime soon. It is good to know that the people around me at Calder Project are easily accessible and more than willing to help me along the way. This was definitely one of the benefits of going to university at La Trobe Bendigo. Smaller classes, the lecturers' open-door policy and a general readiness to help made La Trobe Bendigo a great place to learn.
