Leigh Crapper - Project Engineer, Earth Tech Engineering

“On completion of my final year studies, I commenced full time work with Earth Tech Engineering in Shepparton. Earth Tech is a global consulting company with offices throughout Victoria and Australia.

“By working in a regional office upon graduation, I saw a wide range of projects and areas of engineering including civil and structural design, water, wastewater, irrigation, land development, contract management and supervision.

“After 2 years in Shepparton I moved to the head office in Melbourne for 12 months as a Structural Engineer in the Water Industry Group where I worked on a wide range of water related projects generally for urban and rural Water Authorities across Australia.

“I am now back in the country and spend time in both the Shepparton and Bendigo offices working on a wide range of water and structural projects. I also recently spent a 12 week placement at Goulburn Valley Water as a project engineer to help overcome a shortage of resources at the Authority.

“Studying at La Trobe Bendigo was good as it allowed me to stay in the country and the smaller numbers make assistance form lecturers very easy. Since graduating, I have found that regional companies and employers look favourably upon country students hence Bendigo is the perfect choice for anyone wanting to study Civil Engineering and is not keen on moving to the city.
