Heidi Pimm - Contracts Engineer, Greater Shepparton City Council

Heidi chose studying engineering because it was the only course that incorporated Science, Mathematics and Design which were the three main areas she enjoyed studying at Secondary College. She found studying Civil Engineering at La Trobe Bendigo very relaxed, rewarding and gave her an incentive to do her best.

Heidi's first placement was with the Greater Shepparton City Council. After graduating Heidi gained employment with Sinclair Knight Merz, Tatura where she had completed her second period of industrial placement. Her work involves site investigation, surveying, road and intersection design (both traffic and structural design), channel remodelling, subway design, groundwater and drainage investigation, drafting, reporting and consulting.

She believes that industrial placement provides valuable practical experience and increases understanding of the engineer's roles in society. The diverse curriculum at La Trobe University, Bendigo has enabled her to take on duties in a number of different areas and she believes that the opportunities are limited only by one's imagination.
