Josh Lewis - Engineer, City Of Wangaratta
“I'm not sure how to describe my position. However, I will list down a few tasks that I have been involved with since starting my job approximately four months ago:
- Supervise Perry St Bridge and Allans Lane Bridge construction (reinforced concrete, prestressed beams)
- Wooden Bridge reconstructions and bracing upgrades
- Supervise/test new subdivision works
- Major drainage upgrades
- Supervise road constructions, including Carboor-Everton Road which is 7 km full reconstruction
- Supervise culvert lining (approximately 40 metres long and 2 metres diameter, insert sleeve and pump grout in surrounding void)
- Look after Rail Trail (sealed bike path, links with Indigo shire and Alpine shire) and construction of toilets, rest areas etc...
- Carry out every-day inspections such as new crossovers, footpaths, hazards, etc...
- New projects popping up all the time.
“Here at the rural City Of Wangaratta there is an engineering design division which I also spend some time with.
“All in all I think I'm in an excellent position to extend my knowledge as there are many highly experience engineers around me (approximately 12 in total) with varying backgrounds, and already I've made many friends and valuable contacts.
