Forget being stuck in front of a photocopier all day! Our vacation employment program provides students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learnt at university in a practical, real life work situation.
Our vacation employment opportunities are offered across all engineering disciplines and include a tour of our assets and infrastructure, mentoring with senior engineers plus a work project you can call your own.
Our vacation employment is for duration of 10 weeks during the end of year break, from 28th November 2011 to 17th February 2012, with two weeks off over the Christmas/New Year period. Employment opportunities are offered across several operations work areas within Coliban Water:
- Planning –assisting in a project relating to hydraulic modelling
- Routine Renewals – assisting in several capital projects including water main renewal program, sewer main renewal program and sewer manhole lid renewal program
- Sewer and Water Systems – to assist in stage 1 of a project for Odour and Corrosion Control Strategy and Infiltration and inflows in the sewer network system
- Raw Water Supply – assisting with the Raw Water quality improvement project, as well as participating in inspections of headworks and land management
- Water Resources – assistance with data collection, analysis and reporting for Water Supply Demand Strategy and Drought Response Plan
