Delivery of IT skills to La Trobe students

Competency in IT is a basic skill every La Trobe University graduate needs to possess. Students are expected to use IT and software packages appropriate to their profession or field and as graduates enter the workforce with the IT literacy and lifelong learning skills needed in the information economy.

La Trobe computer based training (CBT) is hosted at the Skillport website and is available to both students and staff.

To access computer based training, you must first be registered. The International Computer Drivers Licence (ICDL) courses are free to all La Trobe students (there is a fee for obtaining your ICDL certification) but registration to use other CBT courses incurs a fee.

An individual who has a robust understanding of IT will be able to exploit new information technologies and application developments and to comprehend the capabilities and implications of new technologies more quickly.
