Tips for carpooling

  1. Meet up with your carpool match beforehand

Meet with the person or people you are carpooling with at uni to check that they are an appropriate match and someone you can travel with
  2. Plan driving responsibilities

Plan what days each person is going to drive and the times you will be leaving. Exchange phone numbers in case you have to cancel carpooling on a certain day
  3. Meet in a middle meeting point

If you do not want to meet your match at home, meet in a meeting point that is in between both your houses
  4. Decide on driving expenses

Decide how you will split the petrol costs of carpooling before you carpool. You may wish to alternate driving or use the fuel calculator to figure out a fair price for reimbursement
  5. Talk about ground rules

Let your carpool match know if you don't like smoking, eating in your car, etc.
  6. Arrive on time

Be courteous to the other carpooler and arrive on time to ensure you don't make them late for classes/work
  7. Be safe and careful

Always drive with care so that everyone in the car feels secure and safe
