Carpool permits
A carpool permit entitles you to priority car parking in the green bays at the front of Car Parks 2, 3 and 8.
Carpool permits are free, but you must display both a normal parking permit and a green carpool permit to park in the priority car parks. Members are entitled to one carpool permit between two. You can share the cost of your normal car parking permit if you are able to carpool a lot of the time; just put it on an empty CD case and then move it between the different cars.
To get a permit, visit the Traffic and Parking office (Ground floor, Peribolos East) together with the person or people you're going to carpool with. You must live in the same area, show us your student ID and show us the travel route you will be taking to La Trobe.
What if I can't carpool to uni every day?
You're under no pressure to carpool everyday. If you're sharing a parking permit, on the days which you can't carpool you can pay for a daily parking ticket. Depending on how often you carpool, it might be cheaper to buy two separate parking permits.
Conditions
To qualify for a carpool permit you must carpool with at least one other person TO uni. Those who are only carpooling on the way home do not qualify to park in the priority spaces.
When you park in the green spaces provided for the car-poolers you must display one white car park permit and one green carpool permit on the dashboard of your car.
Anyone parking the green carpool parking spaces without a green permit or without passengers will be fined.
