Advertising a tutoring position

If you are a private household wishing to advertise for a tutor it is not necessary to register first as an employer. See our hiring a tutor guide for more information.

Using CareerHub

You must first be registered to use the system. To do this, click on the 'register' button and enter in the required fields including your own username and password. You will need to wait until Careers and Employment has approved your application before you can use the site. (You will be notified by email.)

A profile of the organisation is created from the registration details. When you wish to advertise a job or event, you can then select what you want to advertise.

There are three key categories that are used to target and match jobs and events with our students and graduates:

  • size
  • scope of operations
  • industry

Filling in these details makes it easier for students to search the jobs database and land on positions that are appropriate to them. You can make multiple selections in these categories by holding down the CTRL key and clicking with the mouse.

Filling in a job form

Once your employer profile has been approved, you can start placing job ads.

To make the most out of your advertisements, ensure that you enter the following details:

  • job description
  • application procedures
  • contact details including person, phone number, email and website
  • rate of pay per hour / salary per annum
  • expected commencement date of employment

You can also select the course you are targeting (e.g. Business, Tourism and Hospitality) to appeal to a specific group of students. You can make multiple selections in these categories by holding down the CTRL key and clicking with the mouse.

All jobs will automatically default to appear on the site for one month from the day that the ad is submitted, so you may need to manually change the closing date. Once this closing date arrives, the job will automatically become ‘expired’.

Once completed, the job form will automatically be sent through to Careers & Employment and will be subject to an approval process. Once the job has been approved, you will be notified by email that it is 'live' and available for viewing by students and graduates.

Editing your profile

You can login to CareerHub to change your contact details or to add a contact. If you wish to edit the job details, you must contact Careers & Employment to make the amendments.

Adding Attachments

To add an attachment to the job and a full position description or insurance form, go to the attachment section of the job sheet and upload the relevant document yourself.
