What you can get involved in

Student Career Mentoring Program

Would you like to make a difference?
Would you like to share your experiences?

The Student Career Mentoring Program provides an opportunity for individuals with at least two years’ experience in the workforce to develop their own coaching, leadership and communication skills by developing a relationship with a student who wants to learn more about a career of interest to them.  It also enables students to meet a current practitioner who will share their knowledge and experience, to explore the realities of the world of work or simply to have someone whom they can use as a sounding board.

As a mentor, you will attend a short induction workshop in April 2009, meet with your mentee a minimum of five times between April and October and then attend a celebration event at the end of the program.

The Student Career Mentoring Program is available at all our campuses (Albury/Wodonga, Bendigo, Bundoora, Mildura and Shepparton).

Take part in a panel session

We run a number of programs that include small panels of graduates sharing their career paths and job seeking advice with current students. These include three 'Way Ahead Programs' for Arts, Business and Science students as well as 'The Work Ready Program' for international students who wish to work in Australia.

These sessions last for one hour, are fairly informal and require little preparation other than thinking about what you wish you had known when you were a student! They are always highly valued by the participants as it brings to life the material that we present to them. Please contact us if you are interested in getting involved.

Share your story on our website

Your career doesn’t have to be glamorous or particularly long but we would love to have a range of graduate profiles on our website so that students can understand better the world of work and the range of opportunities that are available. If you’re interested, please contact us and we’ll ask you some questions, write it up and send it to you for approval before it goes 'live'.
