WebCT printing problems

How to print from WebCT
Go to "File" select "Print Preview" and then you can select what to print.

When I print from WebCT my document has only the header and footer showing
You should select the printer icon rather than selecting 'File' 'Print'.

Select the printer from the application (e.g. Word, PowerPoint or Adobe) you’re working from. Then go to the area that is circled in blue and select the multi-up option you require.


General

My job has not printed!
In most cases the reason your job has not printed will be because you have insufficient funds on your account. So check your account balance via the Transact web page. On the right hand side go to the "Quick links for students" and click on the "Transact account balance (login)" link. If you have funds then check to make sure the document you are printing will cover the amount of your balance. For example if your current balance is 80 cents and the document you want to print is 10 pages, multiply 10 pages by the printing cost per page (0.09 cents at Cafe Digital) = 0.90cents. In this example you would need to add more money to your account and reprint the document. If you have sufficient funds on your account then check the printer queue there may be jobs ahead of yours. Check the printer to see if there is an error e.g. out of paper, toner or a paper jam. If any of these examples have occurred report this immediately to you local IT support.

When I insert my card into a reload machine, I get a message saying it is blank or upside. What do I do?

This error message communicates that there is a fault with the card. Please take the faulty card to Cafe Digital where a Transact La Trobe staff member will adress the issue.

I have put money into the reload station, but when I check my account balance the amount doesn't show up. What do I do?
Contact the Transact La Trobe representative at your campus. They will attend to the problem and advise you of what to do next. If the issue is that of a faulty/malfunctioning equipment, you will be reimbursed.

I have purchased a Casual Card as apposed to recharging my student card. Which one do I use?
You have the choice to use either card as your primary copy/print card. Casual copy cards can be assigned to your name and used as the main copy card. If you are not a student but have a casual card, you can use it to copy at any Transact
La Trobe photocopier, but will only be able to print with it in the Library. There are some terminals that do not require a username and password to logon. To pay for printing with a casual copy card, you swipe the card on a card reader at a release station to send your chosen job to print. This automatically deducts from your account at the rate of $0.12 per page.
If your Casual card has been assigned to your student account, you will be able to use it for print & copy purposes anywhere on campus.

I am a member of staff and would like to use my staff card for personal copying.
Take your Staff Card to Cafe Digital and a member of staff will register it for you. Once it is registered you can proceed to add money to your card at any reload station on campus.
Once the account has money on it, you can photocopy at any Transact La Trobe copier on campus.

I am a member of staff and would like to do departmental printing & copying. How do I obtain a Departmental Card?

You must submit an online request for departmental card/s. You will have to fill in the form and submit it electronically. Once this is submitted we proceed to create the new departmental card/s. Upon completion we will send an email informing you that the cards are ready to be picked up from Cafe Digital. For old Departmental cards, staff can get a full refund for outstanding monies from Academic Services.


Registering

How do I activate my Transact La Trobe account?
Your student Transact La Trobe account will be activated when you recieve your Student ID card. You will need to register. to use your print & copy account. If you are an existing student with a Cafe Digital account, please visit our Cafe Digital staff who will assist with the set up your new account.

How do I add money to my Transact La Trobe account?
You add money to your copy & print account at any reload station situated at these locations. Instructions are clearly outlined at each station.

Do I need a PIN to use my Transact La Trobe account?
Your Transact La Trobe account does not use any PIN system. To use your copy account you wave your card on the card reader. This reads your account number and takes the money off according to how many pages you copy.

How do I check my balance?

Log on here with your Student LTU username and password to view your account balance. Here you can view your transaction history and available funds.

Where can I photocopy and print?
Each campus is equipped with printers and photocopiers. To view your preffered location please click here.

My card is lost/stolen or damaged. What do I do?
If your student card is lost, stolen or damaged, you must notify card services. They will re-issue you with a new Student card. Please note, there is a card replacement fee.
To reactivate your Transact La Trobe account please contact a customer service member.

I accidently printed the wrong thing. Can I get a refund?
Transact La Trobe will not refund you for incorrectly printing something. It is entirely your responsibilty what and how much you print. Please be mindful and double check your printing settings before you hit PRINT.

A printer/copier is not working. Who do I contact?
Please do not attempt to fix the problem yourself. We have a specialised team that attends to printer and copier problems.
Each machine has a contact number for reporting faults. Please call that number promptly to report the problem.
Alternatively, you can log the problem online through the service difficulties link. This immediately notifies a technician who will attend to the problem.

A card reader is not recognising my card. What do I do?

In the event of a registered account not working, please contact Transact La Trobe. We will test your card on a reader to narrow down the problem. If the issue is not resolved you will be referred to Student card services.

I have a Cafe Digital print/copy account. Is this the same as Transact La Trobe?
The Cafe Digital account will cease to exist. All account holders will have to come into Cafe Digital and have a member of staff close their accounts and reimburse them of their remaining amount. You can then proceed to register your Transact La Trobe account and put that money for printing and copying in there.

My card is locked

If your student card is locked, please enusre you have logged off from any other card readers, ie. photocopiers. Your card will only allow you to be logged on at one terminal at a time. If the problem persists, you can call Cafe Digital on ext 3220, provide your student username and member of staff will unlock it immediately. Aternatively, you can take your card in to Cafe Digital and have it unclocked there.
