I am currently on the one-year Victoria Public Service Graduate Rotation Scheme, where I am on my final graduate rotation within the Department of Justice. My previous two rotations were at the Department of Treasury and Finance and Department for Victorian Communities.
My job involves tasks such as monitoring and analysing the performance of the Department of Justice in meeting its targets and objectives. I am also involved in a number of projects, such as, reforming the Family Violence System and targeting Sexual Assault in Victoria.
La Trobe has a great culture and environment, which allows you to settle in immediately. La Trobe staff were very helpful during my studies - approachable at all times, friendly, supportive and committed to ensuring that I achieved my best.
During my studies I was given the opportunity to go on ‘Student Exchange. This is just another great opportunity offered to you as a student at La Trobe University to gain international experience.
My Economics degree was inspiring, exciting and challenging. It was intellectually stimulating, sharpened my analytical and problem-solving skills, helped develop the ability to plan work and brought overall satisfaction. It also helped me gain analytical skills, both written and verbal communication skills and team work abilities, which are skills that I continuously use and will wherever I go in my career.
After completing my degree I was well equipped for future career. Most of my subjects that I had undertaken during my course have a direct connection with how I perform my current duties. Employers value Economics graduates’ understanding of decision making, their research, analytical skills and communication skills. |
